The following is a tragic story from the Milwaukee Journal, "Officials identify girl in fatal crash." The story details an auto crash that claimed the life of a 10 year old girl. Usually on the weekends, I look through foreign, mainly European newspapers to see the world from their perspective. With all the problems in Greece, those papers have become very interesting. In the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, I found this fantastic letter to the editor. It is concerning an article about extending retail shop hours in Athens.

Mark Bittman has one of the most unique jobs at the NY Times. He writes a political food column. Most food columnists write from a non-political angle, just what tastes good or bad and they have a dining section for this. Remembrances of December 7th, 1941.

Today being 70th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, it inspired me to call my stepfather Ed. He is 86 and a World War II, Navy veteran, but he did not serve in the Pacific, nor was he at Pearl Harbor. So, I called just to ask him what it was like then, on the date that will live in infamy.

After the dust began to settle from the '08 election, it became clear to many Conservatives that we had to work harder than we ever have before. We had to break our long silence. We knew we had to get our message out and make clear to our party what type of candidates we would tolerate. The success of this in the 2010 election cannot be denied.

HOPE is ALIVE ! Well,sort of......

The NY Times reports good news,"Jobless Rate Dips to Lowest Level in More Than 2 Years ". Of course, most of the reduction in the unemployment rate is due to over 300,000 people giving up on looking for work. That is an intentional flaw in the government's equation for calculating the unemployment rate. The real unemployment rate is much higher as the Christian Science Monitor reports ;
