For years and years the Democrat Party dominated southern politics, the Republican Party in the south was just a small side note. With the coming of the civil rights movement and efforts to end segregation in the south, many southern Democrats who opposed these things came to be known as Dixiecrats. These racists were obviously on the wrong side of history.
Some of these folks left the Democrat Party and became Republicans, others claimed they saw the light and at least with their rhetoric embraced civil rights. Because some of these Dixiecrats became Republicans, the Democrats have used this as an excuse to label all Republicans as racists for nearly 50 years. Even though there is no truth to this in modern times, the Democrats false accusations of racism, along with a created dependency on social welfare programs, have kept blacks a solid voting block for their party.
Since the election of President Obama, any opposition or criticism of him by the right has been framed by the left as based in racism. It is not that right wingers might have legitimate political disagreements with Obama, we just don't like him because he is black.
This is totally untrue, but the president's supporters, media surrogates, and party proxies, have played the race card so many times it makes the boy who cried wolf look like Honest Abe. As I have written about many times before (here, here and here are just a few examples), one of the worst things about this from the left is that it detracts from real instances of racism.
Which brings us to the rather uninspiring news that many white Democrats have moved back to their roots, these pols have announced they will not be attending this years Democrat National Convention. Why ? Well, they claim they do not want to be associated with President Obama and are not happy with his governance. So, if we use the same standard the left uses to label Republicans as racists, I think we can fairly say these Democrats are also racists. Let's look at who a few of these Democrats are:
Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana)
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia)
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri)
Rep. Nick Rahall (D-West Virginia)
Rep. Mark Critz (D-Pennsyvania)
Rep. Kathy Hochul (D-New York)
Rep. Bill Owens (D-New York)
Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah)
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin (D-West Virginia)
These are just the ones I could quickly find. This list grows daily and there are plenty of rumors of others who will be turning their noses up to the first black president too. I think we should call these racist Democrats, "The New Dixiecrats." Funny how your own ugly lie filled rhetoric can come back to bite you. But, you know the old saying ? If the shoe fits.
