Eulogy of the Newtonites

  By Donna Cole

Chris Cillizza at "The Fix" has this post, "Explaining Newt Gingrich's Never Ending Presidential Campaign". Cillizza explains how Newt is out of money and he is getting hammered in these primaries. Ron Paul beat Gingrich in Illinois and polls show Dr. Paul will beat him here in Wisconsin. It is becoming an embarrassment that he carries on.

Now, I actually think Sir Newton's campaign has been an embarrassment from the beginning for conservatives and the fact anyone took him seriously or supported him is far beyond me with the exception of those who are mentally ill. But you know what they say about birds of a feather.

I refer to Gingrich from time to time as Sir Newton, because he fancies himself a man of science and high intelligence. The same way his supporters fancy the idea that he will so mentally over power Obama in a debate that it will sway a majority of Americans to vote for him. I also think these folks believe in "The Force". I imagine they fancy the van that has been on center blocks for the past 12 years in their front yard will one day start up and fly to Sir Newton's moon base.

I am going to leave aside the fact that Gingich is a total slimeball whose personal life looks like a circus train wreck involving a school bus full of children. I will, as they do, also look over the fact this all makes him look like a monumental hypocrite or that his time in government and lobbying activities, yes he was a lobbyist even if he says to read the fine print, makes him a poster boy for everything that is wrong with Washington D.C.. I mean, come on, you Gingrich supporters leave all this aside, so I will join you in Newt's Magic Kingdom.

Back to Cillizza's piece. He gives the three reasons why Newt carries on. Some might call this he refuses to quit, like it is an honorable thing. It is not. I could call this not willing to accept reality but it is not. I do call it unable to see reality. Some might refer to this as delusional. I can be included in that group.

So, let's take a look at Cillizza's three reasons Gingrich continues to embarrass himself, not mention the damage he continues to do to our party. I include you supporters of Gingrich as party to this damage. No, I am not thanking you for anything, you have added nothing to this nomination process. As a matter of fact, you have damaged it more than you can ever know, the same way your hero Newton has. You wonder why liberals call some of us nuts ? Take a look in the mirror. Cillizza's three points:

#1.Gingrich genuinely believes that Romney is not conservative enough to be the Republican nominee and wants to spend the next few months trying to drag the former Massachusetts governor more in line with his own beliefs.

#2.Gingrich’s campaign has, from the start (or close to it), been something of a vanity effort.

#3.Newt thinks of himself as not just another politician.

Cillizza goes through a lot of reasoning of these three points, but his basic ideas, I agree with them. The fact that Cillizza leaves out is that Gingrich is a nut job and that is the fact I want to drive home here. I am not even a Romney advocate and I can tell you this with a straight, honest and sober face. Gingrich can only dream about being a conservative like Romney, even when taking Romneycare into account. You have to be a mental case to say Gingrich is more conservative than Romney based on his history, but if you do support Gingrich, I guess you are a mental case.

Gingrich has damaged conservatism. He is not a conservative. He is not some kind of hero or great man. He is a scum. It is not just a shame, it is disgusting that the GOP will have to allow this self aggrandizing bucket of pig slop in the convention so he can pretend he is of some importance to our cause.

The only time Newt has ever been of any benefit to the conservative movement was when it was a by product of Gingrich doing something that benefited one person, himself. Gingrich is a self absorbed mental case who cares for no one except for himself and if you got sucked into his nonsense, well, your a sucker. I have heard there is one born every minute.

Newt is honestly no different than a schizophrenic person walking the streets mumbling about the end of the world and if you support him, do not say you really care for the future of this nation because Newt doesn't. Keep working on that van in your yard, you'll get to the moon one day.

I do want to add this. I offer a sincere apology to folks who are mentally ill and those who care for them. I say this not trying to make a joke from it. I probably did insult you in this column by comparing Gingrich and his supporters to you. I am sorry for that. You have a honest excuse.
