Sometimes, it is what they don't say.

   By Donna Cole.

 Some folks think when the 13th day of a month falls on a Friday, it is unlucky and that bad things can happen. Others chalk it up to mere coincidence, saying unlucky things can happen on any day. But something did happen this past Friday the 13th that certainly was no mere coincidence. Finding this thing that happened was not unlucky for me, but it could be for some others.

 Last Friday the 13th, the Milwaukee Journal reported this story, "Walker tells NRA members he's a target". In this piece, they go into great detail to tell of a speech Gov. Walker gave at the National Rifle Association's convention. He is the governor of a state, so it is understandable, but he also gives many speeches the Journal never reports on.

  The implication of the story is clear, Gov. Walker, with his conceal carry law, is one of those crazy folks "clinging to their guns". A couple weeks ago, the Journal had a story about the shocking fact Gov. Walker, who is the son of preacher man, has faith in God and prays. I reckon this was the Journal pointing out the "clinging to their religion" part of what then presidential candidate Obama said in 2008 about "bitter people".

 The purpose of both of these stories is clear, to paint Gov. Walker as what the liberal media views as not only a conservative, but a far right crazy person. The fact the Journal reported both these stories is not a coincidence.

 However, when one looks at the liberal media, it is not only what they report and how they report it. It is also what they do not report. At times, the silence can be deafening. These non-reported stories are no mere coincidences either. MediaPolitical has uncovered one such story.

 The following story, was nowhere to be found in the Milwaukee Journal. I will admit, this story could have possibly been in the print edition, but after I discovered it last Friday the 13th, I have searched quite extensively online for it.

 I looked on Friday, then on Saturday, and again, yes, twice on Sunday for it on the Journal's website. It was nowhere to be found. I have used the Journal's own search engine, nothing. I have used search engines on websites like Google and Yahoo, still nothing. I am quite good at looking these news items up and I gave the Journal three days to report it.

 I think this is a very important story. It is about the congresswoman who represents the district that encompasses the city of Milwaukee. It details her bringing home the taxpayers' bacon to her district. I think this story would be of interest to the readers of the Milwaukee Journal, but for some odd reason, the Journal failed to report it.

 In order to find this important story, I had to look to the Milwaukee Courier. This newspaper is aimed at Milwaukee's African American community. This past Friday the 13th story comes via the Milwaukee Courier, "Gwen Moore announces $1.6 million Grant for Progressive Community Health Centers, Inc.". From the Courier story, with regards to Gwen Moore's announed grant;
"This grant was awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. HRSA is the primary Federal agency for improving access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable."

 We at MediaPolitical found this story very interesting. So, I looked deeper into Progressive Community Health Centers. On their website, under the heading of "Services" is Women's Health. One of these women's health services they list is "family planning services (birth control)". To bad Sandra Fluke doesn't live in Milwaukee, Gwen Moore could foot the bill for her.

 I am not going to argue that Progressive Community Health Centers does not provide a valuable service to Milwaukee. In this case, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I also am not going to argue if this grant from the Federal government, via Rep. Moore, is a good or bad thing. You can make up your own mind on that.

 What I will argue is this. One would think that this story, Rep. Gwen Moore bringing home Federal taxpayer dollars to the same district and city the Milwaukee Journal also serves would be news. I will allow MediaPolitical readers to draw their own conclusions as to why the Journal did not report this, but I will tell you one thing. Friday the 13th or not, the fact the Milwaukee Journal did not report this to the broader Milwaukee community is no mere coincidence. It is called liberal media bias.
