You can't blame a girl for trying

  By Donna Cole

 Yesterday, I made this blog post, "I found the leak !". In this piece, I speculated as to the identity of the Milwaukee Journal's Danny "Boy" Bice's leak source, with regards to his reporting on the endless, and supposedly secret, Gov. Walker-John Doe investigation by Milwaukee County D.A. John Chisholm.

 I formed an opinion as to who this leak was by comparing public statements made by Bice and Chisholm. I took their statements to both be truthful, which I do believe to be the case. I also decided the leak would not come from the Judge involved.

 Once you take all these players out of the picture, it only leaves the FBI, who are assisting Chisholm in the investigation, as the only possible party remaining who could have inside knowledge of the case. Thus, making them the only possible source for the leak.

 This is only my opinion, based on my own speculation. There could be players in this who are unknown. I am dealing with what has been said in public about a case that is supposed to be secret.

 After posting my original piece, I thought I would directly ask Bice if indeed his source was the feds ? I admit that Danny Boy has sort of been beat up over the identity of the source and offered several public statements on this subject. I can understand him being annoyed.

 But, I figured I might as well pile on and ask too. Which is what I did. I can't worry about him being annoyed. I asked Bice directly if his source was from the FBI or any other federal employee ? I also asked him if his source was the Judge or any court employee, just to cover that base, and if the source was politically motivated ?

 After having an email back and forth discussing the difference between opinion and straight news, (I'm paraphrasing here) Bice reiterated his previous public statements and planned to no longer answer anymore questions with regard to his sources or discuss the matter further.

 This is fully understandable, and about what I expected, but I asked and I got an answer. I thank Bice for that, which is actually more than I expected. While I believe, this is only my personal belief, that Bice has a liberal bias, I do not hold it against him at all for reporting on these leaks or working very hard to protect his source. I would do the same thing.

 I do hold it against the source for providing the leak to Bice, who I believe is highly partisan and politically motivated. This is the same thing I think about this entire John Doe investigation into Gov. Walker. It is a partisan which hunt. That is my right wing bias, but a bias in this case that seems to be proving true.

 I would note that while stating he is not a lawyer, Bice did not think it was illegal for his source to speak to him. I was under the impression if the person was directly involved in the case it was. I'm not a lawyer either, so I do not know the answer to that. Until I know more, I will defer to Bice on that.

 Perhaps one day we will know who the source is, or maybe it won't even matter then. With concern to my pursuit of this, I have taken it as far as I can and have nowhere else to go with it anyway.

 Well, at least until more secret facts about this so called secret case are made public. But my emails with Bice did reveal one rather shocking detail. This is from one of his emails to me;

"I also don't mind being called Danny Boy."
Now that my friends is shocking, the guy has got a decent sense of humor.
