By D.C.
I am not going to knock Barry O. too bad for going on a vacation.First of all,in August,Washington is a political ghost town.Every congress member,every senator and all their staff are gone back to their home districts or on vacation somewhere other than Washington D.C..
Second,as long as Barry hangs around D.C. the economy keeps going to crap and the Krugman types keep making excuses for Obama.
It couldn't hurt for him to leave town for a couple weeks and just not say anything.
Having said that,the liberal political media never go on vacation.So,they now reduce themselves to something like TMZ.I shouldn't insult TMZ like that,at least they are half assed professional about what they do.
I know in a few days the New York Times will be reporting things like this,"During nature walk,President saves flower from climate change destruction and shows personal concern." The first couple paragraphs will read something like this;
"We watched from a distance as the handsome president walked with a calm and knowing purpose along this nature trail.Then spotting a seemingly rare flower,he bends to one knee to gaze upon the flower's beauty but not so close as to damage the fragile Bellis perennis.
After admiring this wonder of nature,he rose in a majestic manner to continue on his walk along this shining path of 100 year old natural riverstone,built by chinese slave labor for a millionaire oil baron in the 1880's and now owned by the Bureau of Land Management,he noticed his shoe was untied.He had a furrowed brow and showed an expression of concern."
Well,we are not exactly there yet,but the L.A. Times' Maeve Reston reports the first Obama vacation sighting and she does so with much detail.The article is titled,"On vacation,Obama drops by Vineyard bookstore." Barry took his two daughters to a bookstore.The end right?
(In 2008,hardcore lefty Glenn Greenwald offered comments as to Maeve's journalistic c**k sm****g abilties when she was covering the McCain '08 campaign.)
I want to give credit where credit is due here.Dr.Micheal Savage had this story on his radio show tonight(Aug.19th) and linked on his Savage Nation website.Dr.Savage had a different take on this L.A. Times' story than I do,but we are in the same area.I saw a very clear example of liberal media bias at the editorial level.
(You can listen online to the Savage Nation live on KSTE 650 at 5pm Milwaukee time.I admit Dr.Savage's show is an aquired taste,you probably need to be a little bit libertarian to really enjoy it.I would suggest to tune in after Belling's show,on WISN,is over at 6pm.Who wants to listen to that republican party hack Hannity anyway? An idiot like me could write Hannity's material.Without Limbaugh to carry his ass,"The Wallbanger"(thats Dr.Savage's nickname for Hannity) would just be another morning radio D.J. .)
Back to the L.A. Times story about Barry going with his kids to the bookstore and what is clear editorial bias at the L.A.Times,not that it would be surprising.
Maeve starts out with her usual "on her knees" version of how Obama had on a polo shirt,jeans and sneakers,how when folks knew he was there they came running to see,etc.Barry and his kids go into the book store.Then as she describes Barry paying for the books (which I am glad he paid for because the last democrat president would have just walked out with them),she adds ,"Obama paid at the counter (with his sunglasses on)".
It's obvious to me that at this point that Maeve is so sexually aroused by Barry's jeans and sunglasses I really don't know how she controlled herself.OK,I'll stop beating up on Maeve,I'll get to the liberal bias.
Here is the 4th paragraph in the story;
"In a stack of at least four books, Obama had Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World," "Room" by Emma Donoghue, and "The Bayou Trilogy" by Daniel Woodrell, the author of "Winter's Bone." Sasha had a book called "Frost."."
Now,it made me wonder,why didn't the L.A. Times editors link up "Brave New World" like they did the other two books Obama had? It was Sasha who had the fourth book.
The L.A. Times editors knew that a bunch of lefties,who hate books like "Brave New World",must have been wondering,"Why is Barry buying such a book?". The editors of the Times give us a reason,in paragraph 6 they explain why.Trust me,Maeve would have never been smart enough to do this,it was the editors that put this paragraph in;
"It was unclear which books Obama ultimately purchased at Bunch of Grapes, but “Brave New World” was most likely for his 13-year-old daughter, Malia. The book is required reading for eighth-grade students at Sidwell Friends School, where she attends."
I think I read "Brave New World" in about the 10th grade,but that was many,many,moons ago.I had to do a review at wikipedia here .
Here are my rough notes on the book;
"Aldous Huxley wrote "Brave New World" in 1932 as a satire of futuristic utopian thinking of the time.
The book is set in 2540,so way off in the future.Almost all the people live in whats called "The World State".
To control the use of resources the population is limited to 2 billion people.Children are produced by the state,in a factory.They have a caste system that limits a persons options in life.
They have an circular economic system where people consume products in order for production to continue forever,thus perserving the political economic system.
Instead of religion people take an LSD type drug and have orgies.Ideas of family,emotional love,marriage,natural birth,parenthood,etc. are all considered obscene and pornographic.
Individuality is totally removed from the individual.People live a young and healthy life to age 60,then drop dead.No one mourns or fears death because everybody is happy and the society goes on.
Areas of the earth considered not to be of use to the state are left wild.The people who live there are considered savages.The savages are people who actually have personal relationships,families,natural born children,religion and they grow old and die naturally.
The story is about some people who question the whole system.It's a tragic type story.I don't want to spoil it for you."
While Huxley's 1932 book is not exactly Ayn Rand,he does rip on capitolism and consumerism,the bulk of the story is about a future utopian world,its Obama's socialist dream world,and this book shows it's failures.
So you ask,"Where is the lefty bias?" I ask you,"This whole article is throw away trash,filler material,so why did the editors feel the need to add that paragraph explaining why Barry bought this book?"
You will have to answer that question for yourself.I actually think editors do things like this and don't even really realize it.Read the L.A. Time's story,mentally remove the 6th paragraph,the story flows along just fine and makes perfect sense.It's the 6th paragraph,the one about the reason for Obama buying "Brave NewWorld", that sticks out like a sore thumb.It's a very subtle thing,either you see it,and understand it,or you don't.
I'll leave you with the last line from Maeve Reston's L.A. Times piece(of crap).
"After his bookstore visit, Obama traveled on to the Vineyard Golf Club, a private course on the Vineyard for a round of golf."
"My shot is like my economy,really bad."
