 Today,we get this shocking story from The Daily Beast,"Americans Face Double-Digit Hikes in Electricity Bills to Fund Upgrades".Yes,in the midst of a rotten economy,that seems to be going nowhere,we can expect our electric rates to skyrocket.But didn't we already know this?


 The Daily Beast story talks about how electric companies all over the country are seeking rate hikes to deal with all the new "green" government regulations.But this is a rather interesting paragraph,the author is talking about cuts to federally funded low income electric and heat assistance;

During the budget battle, Congress cut $500 million from the program to bring this year’s total to $4.7 billion, down from a high of $5.1 billion in 2010. For next year, the Obama administration requested only $2.6 billion, leaving states with roughly half the assistance they’ve had in the past. The White House rationale relies on the assumption that energy prices will decline, but regulatory filings have indicated the opposite trend is in store.

The Obama admistration is cutting low income assistance by half,because they rely on the "assumption that energy prices will decline"? What gave them this assumption? The Commander in Chief most certainly did not.As a matter of fact,let's look at what he said in 2008 as then candidate Obama,this from Newsbusters;

When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal…under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket…even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I’m capping greenhouse gasses, coal power plants, natural gas…you name it…whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retro-fit their operations.

That will cost money…they will pass that money on to the consumers.

So,before the President was even elected he knew that his "green" ideas would cause electric rates to skyrocket.I guess the folks over at The Daily Beast missed that one.What idiot in his admistration thinks electric rates will decline? The answer doesn't really matter because the entire admistration,from the top down,are just a bunch of incompotent boobs.
