The future of Tommy B's Milwaukee Trolley

By D.C.

 In some not so far off future the following paragraph could appear in the Milwaukee Journal;
 "Milwaukee transportation officials readily admit that building the first phase of Tommy B's Trolley has been trying, costing hundreds of millions of dollars more than originally budgeted and suffering nagging delays."

 OK,I admit to some slight editing here.I changed the name of the city and I added Tommy B's Trolley.But this is the first paragraph in this L.A. Times story,"Expo Line: Second phase of construction to begin".

 Yes,Los Angeles is building one of these liberal dream trains.A light rail system.I understand the difference between Tommy B's trolley and light rail.But all these rail projects share the same problems.

 The first phase of this project was started in 2006 with a projected cost of $640 million for 8.6 miles.Behind schedule and at a cost of $932 million this first phase was finished.Well,almost finished.The second phase is 6.6 miles with an estimated cost of $1.5 billion.I'll let you do the math to figure out the cost per mile.

 This could be Milwaukee.
